Description
Generic for sweetened fortified aperitif wines containing quinine (thus "quinquina") and spices. The major brands are: Byrrh, Dubonnet, Lillet, and St. Raphael. The quinine is the bitter constituent which promotes production of digestive enzymes and, therefore, appetite.
