TypeSugar cane & molasses-based spirits
Generic for Haitian high-proof raw minimally-aged white cane spirit - a rum of sorts. Appears in the Petion and Dessalines Cocktails, both introduced by Esquire magazine in the 1940s. The term "clarion" which appears in some recipe guides is a misspelling of clairin. Excellent as a mixer.
Limited availability. Produced and sold in Haiti. Known to be distributed in Haiti and United States. Rarely exported. Regional.
